Description:
Meet Tia! Tia and about 100 other small dogs, mostly Chihuahuas, were rescued following several puppy mill busts in Texas. She made her way to MI along with many of the other dogs saved. Tia is a tri-colored Chihuahua mix that weighs about 11.5 pounds. She is very sweet and submissive, but does display some puppy mill behaviors that include being skittish, spooked by loud noises, uncertain in new situations, and tends to stiffen up when picked up. As Tia has become more comfortable in her foster home, she has become more playful and affectionate. She is working hard on potty training and learning quickly, but will require ongoing effort from her adoptive family. Tia lives with several other dogs, all her size, and has no issues with any of them. With her submissive personality, I suspect she would do well with other dogs and cats as well. She would do best in a home with another dog or two to help her build confidence and learn how to be a dog. Due to her small size and background an all-adult home is recommended for Tia. We also would prefer a fenced in yard to keep her safe. We recently learned that Tia has bilateral luxated patellas that the vet has called 'advanced' meaning she may require surgery in the future. Although she runs, jumps and stands up on her hind legs, when she plays or runs too much she drags her back leg. Surgery costs to repair luxated patellas is costly, so potential adopters need to keep this in mind. Tia is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped.
Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. ![]() Other Pictures of Tia ❤️ (click to see larger version):
