Description:

Chiquita is a sweet, loving older gal who loves to snuggle! In fact, it is her preferred thing to do. She wants nothing more than to sit on your lap or snuggle up next to you on the couch. She will follow you wherever you go and watch for you if you have to leave her. She demands attention!! She seems to bond quite strongly with one person, and can be a little fearful with new people at first. Once she warms up, she has no problem letting others hold her.

Chiquita gets along well with other dogs and with cats. She does not want to play with them, she is fine just watching them play. She is pretty low-energy, except when she knows it is almost mealtime. Then she bounces around barking - she loves her food!

Chiquita does have a few health issues. She is in heart failure and will need to take her medications for the rest of her life. She also has luxating patellas in both back legs, but because of her heart condition surgery is not an option. She gets around just fine - in fact she zips up the stairs pretty quick! Her walk just looks a little different. It doesn't keep her from taking walks each day with the rest of the dogs in the house.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
